Welcome!

This blog will serve as a purpose to chronicle the things I do to my truck, but also serve as a resource of good information for people to reference when working on their OWN projects.

Short introduction:
My truck is a 2002 7.3L diesel F250. I love it to death. All of the stuff here will be relevant to 7.3Ls, and most SuperDuty trucks from 99-07 and some things even beyond that!

How to: Oil Change on a 7.3L Powerstroke Diesel

Oil changes on a 7.3L are no different than most other vehicles. It is a simple procedure, and can be the best thing you can do for your engine. The engine takes 15 quarts of oil, 13 in the crank case, and 2 in the filter. There are also 3 quarts in the HPOP reservoir, however most people decide not to change this because the oil will mix with the other 15 quarts as soon as the motor is started.

The only time I recommend changing the HPOP oil is if you suspect the oil has gummed up and has become sludge. When this happens it may be necessary to clean out the entire oil system.
